External links or “backlinks” are the main measurement of website authority for search engines.

Similar to references or citations found in books, journals or essays, the more backlinks your website has, the more credible it is found to be.

There are a number of ways to increase your number of backlinks: writing regular content that ticks all the “creative content” boxes, social outreach and affiliate marketing.

The latter, involves searching the web, social media and other digital platforms in order to find somewhere relevant to showcase your company or product. You can then tailor content specifically and ask for it be featured on their website or blog etc.
